Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.

Observation Checklist

Identify diagnostic procedures from control system supplier documentation, plant and process documentation, work request, or discussion with relevant personnel 
Consult with appropriate personnel to ensure planned work is coordinated effectively with others and system downtime is minimised 
Identify sources of materials and components in case replacements are required as a result of fault diagnosis 
Ensure appropriate tools and equipment for the digital control system are selected and serviceable 
Apply relevant WHS and regulatory procedures and risk control measures associated with diagnostic procedures 
Determine the need to observe, test or measure the system live and arrange access if required 
Perform diagnostic processes and techniques efficiently to minimise disruption, wastage and downtime 
Isolate control system circuits where required according to manufacturer’s instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) 
Check for faults in components in a systematic manner with reference to the required operating functions and parameters 
Log faults according to SOPs 
Apply safety and risk control measures and procedures to completing the diagnostic and repair activities 
Repair or replace identified faulty components or materials 
Identify programming related faults and arrange for reprogramming according to SOPs 
Return digital control system to normal operation 
Refer faults requiring additional expert assistance to manufacturer or other expert 
Monitor system after diagnostic and repair and confirm operation against specified parameters 
Produce required documentation and reports in line with organisational policies and procedures
